๐ป๐ Exploring Padlet: A Virtual Wall with Big Potential in Nursing Education! ๐ฉ๐ฝ⚕️๐
๐ "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." – Benjamin Franklin
As a nurse educator in the ever-evolving 21st-century classroom, I'm always on the lookout for new, interesting, and functional tech tools to capture my students. Last week, I entered the world of Padlet, and WOW.๐ฅwhat a helpful gem!
๐ง What is Padlet?
๐Padlet is an interactive digital bulletin board that lets users post text ๐, images ๐ธ, audio ๐, video ๐ฅ, documents ๐, links ๐—all in one shared, visual space. Think of it as a Pinterest + Google Docs + Sticky Notes board... but better and prettier!
๐ง ๐ฌ How I’d Use Padlet as a Nurse Educator
Here’s how I plan to inject some Padlet-magic into my nursing instruction:
1. ๐๐งพ Case Study Wall
Students collaborate to analyze patient scenarios, posting their nursing diagnoses, interventions, and rationales in real time. Teamwork + critical thinking!
2. ๐ช๐ฃ Weekly Reflection Journal
Students post clinical reflections using emojis, GIFs, or audio clips. They can share wins ๐ , challenges ๐ง, or lightbulb moments ๐ก from their clinical rotations.
3. ๐ง ๐ Interactive Brainstorm Board
During virtual or face-to-face sessions, I’ll post prompts (e.g., “What are signs of septic shock?”) and students will add answers. Boom! ๐ฃ Active learning achieved.
4. ๐๐ Resource Roundup Board
A class-curated library of nursing videos ๐️, PDFs, and evidence-based articles ๐. Students and instructors alike contribute throughout the semester.
✅ Pros & ❌ Cons of Padlet in My Teaching Context
| ๐ข **Advantages** | ๐ด **Disadvantages** |

๐ฏ Final Thoughts
Padlet is more than just a wall—it's a canvas for connection, creativity, and collaboration. In a field like nursing that thrives on teamwork, reflection, and real-time problem-solving, Padlet offers a fresh, tech-forward way to teach and learn. ๐๐ก
Whether you're blending in-person instruction with digital interaction or going fully online, Padlet is a powerful (and fun!) tool to have in your nurse educator toolkit. ๐ ️๐
Hi Anika, once again, this blog was fun to read. Considering we were exposed to Padlet several times, I would have loved to see you explore a new tool so that we can expand our exposure. Nonetheless, Padlet has quickly become a favorite of mine, and your post reminded me of the many reasons.
